Brazilian Zouk Flow
This dance is an example of improvisation, lead/follow, co-creation. This demonstrates a style that utilizes stretch and release to create momentum and flow, allowing high-speed rotations and spirals of movement. Nothing is forced.
Brazilian Zouk
This style is more traditional, relying on a structured frame and posture. It allows for synchronized traveling in a close embrace or “hug”. The clarity of footwork supports freedom of movement in the upper back and head.
Kizomba
Kizomba is a genre of dance and music originating in Angola in the 1980’s. Kizomba means "party" in Kimbundu. The goal is to synchronize as a couple with the music and express it through elegant footwork, smooth body movement, and attitude called Ginga (for women) and Banga (for men).
Vernacular Jazz
Vernacular Jazz refers to a collection of dances created in the African-American communities during the Swing era. Charleston can be danced solo, or with a partner. The simple, flexible basic step makes it easy to concentrate on styling, improvisation, and musicality.
Lindy Hop
Lindy Hop is an American dance born in the African-American communities in Harlem, New York City. It was very popular during the swing era of the late 1930s and early 1940s.
